on the bulkhead are two plastic pipes which I think are at the back of the heater solanoid. both these pipes have broken off. The RAC connected the two hoses (that should attach to the pipes) together to bypass the heater and get me back on the road. Is it possible to replace just the solanoid? or does the whole heater matrix need to be replaced? Can the solanoid be replaced with our removing the internal dash facia?

Ford has quoted about 500 to replace the whole heater matrix and this seems crazy if just the 40 solanoid can be replaced.

I could be wrong but I think you can replace just the solinoid. If ford have said you need to replace the whole thing then thats probably right. Personally, I would not give ford 500 quid to do it, i would either go to a breakers yard and get one or findapart.co.uk and have a go at fitting yourself or take it to a local independent garage. Good luck.
