Pink Union Jacks Last Night of the Proms

Just enjoyed watching the Last Night of the Proms. I may appear ignorant but why were some of the Union Jack flags pink?

Okay jack............nothing against gay pride marches or whatever, just wondered why it takes place really. It's like there's a union for gay police separate from the usual police union, I don't understand that either.

Sorry Barmaid but I'm with the Americans on this. The flag is a visual representation of the country and there it is against the law to deface or use the flag for other purposes.
Having pink flags and knickers printed with the design, does us no favours.I don't know but does any other country allow that sort of thing ?

Admittedly, in these more tolerant times (?!?) the Political dimension has given way to the 'Party-atmosphere'.

I can only assume that the mainstream Unions have not been sufficiently pro-active in addressing the specific concerns of their gay membership.

Rather than deface their national flag the American gays have a flag of their own, why are our gays allowed to deface the Union Flag?

I thought it quite amusing that at LTOP, there were loads of people waving other countries' flags too, but all singing Rule Britannia at the tops of their voices!
