naut? ( our word neat comes from that,I think)
maybe kine?
Kine is a plural
Are you asking for another noun or a verb here?
Norse is kyr.
Gaelic is mart.

Hi helpmates, I am clutching at straws for anything which might sound right. I will tell you the question which refers to water (ie) Lake. tarn, river, stream or beck in The Lake District.
Cow valley stream .So I thought ? dale beck .Thanks for your help everyone.

Sorry I forgot to add the answer has 8-4 lettrs.
Sorry I'm even more confused now. What exactly is the question?
'mart' does indeed mean 'cow' in (Scots) Gaelic, but by far the most common word for this animal is 'bò'.
I can only find kyr.

There is also a primeval cow in Norse mythology called Auoumbla.
Horrible pun time - Moordale Beck? (Cow = "mooer") Apols!
Like it or not, there is an 'Oxendale Beck' - (?)
