Has anyone else had the misfortune to hard boil an egg and when shelling it find a chick inside, or what would have been a chick?

Don't click on his link....lol

I knew what it would be before even opening the question....
I wish I hadn't clicked on that link :(
Oops, I clicked on it.
loooool....I tried to get in and warn people.
vodka... sprinkle a little Parmigiano Reggiano on it and you'll be good to go...
lol shurrup you! ;)
Do you pay extra for the chicken?
Hmmm tasty....

Getting the occasional fertilised egg is a risk you take if you get proper free range. it's no big deal (unless it's your last egg), you can also occasionally get eggs that have a soft membrane instead of a hard shell round them, they'll never make it to the shops but if you have your own chickens you'll see them (the membrane eggs are perfectly OK to eat.)

You just have to accept that nature doesn't always make things exactly as we'd like them to be.

Reminds me of
"Mum do I have to eat all the boiled egg?"
"Yes it's good for you."
"What, and the beak?"
How awful. I would never eat an egg again. Come to think of it I don't like eggs so it would not occur. Thanks for your warning ummmm - I didn't have a look.
Not me but think some people may be too chicken to answer this question!

Horrible things really eggs. I occasionally eat one that has been bashed around and covered in tomato sauce, but they look revolting and are slimy nasty things.

No they don't. Well, perhaps if they are bashed enough?
No, can not say I have. A bit surprised there isn't some sort of auto-check mechanism developed to spot them. Light failing to shine through maybe?

Oh and the link is fine. Although I do think it a questionable act to boil a creature to death: I do hope it doesn't feel pain at that point.
