How do you know they are Free Range?
The link is scary RATTER I thought that the Happy free range Egg was from hens who had a whole field to scrabble through and a hen run roost at night. How are your gingers are they laying yet?
OK this image is on the animal liberation front's web page

Moral of the story - be careful about what you see on the internet

I actually got the image from wikipedia:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Free_range_eggs

I do usually trust wikipedia, though this appears to be a little misleading.
It (almost) looks worse than battery hens.

I do apologise if I mislead anybody, that was not my intention, however I think this is pretty much how it is in the chicken houses at night.

AYG, my "RED" chickens are doing well, we have modified their perches as it appears my perches were to thin (1" thick) and they were refusing to perch on them and preferred to roost in the nest boxes, they are now 2"x2" square as recommended by the experts. They will be placed on the perches tonight so they can get the feel of the perches. we are getting about 5 - 6 eggs a day, I think they are still settling in.
