Not face to face, no.

The 'horn' is actually a tooth (tusk) and it is believed that the main purpose is for sensing food. Unlike a normal tooth, the tusk has the sensitive parts outside and the enamel inside. Sometimes it is used for friendly sparring between males in the breeding season. Females have a much shorter tusk. In the occasionally individual both tusks grow.
I can not see them using it to spear food as the animal is too big violently enough too shake it off to eat it.

There's an amazing program on bbc1 called Ocean Giants, unfortunately it's going to finish at 10, but may be able to view online. I seen the narwhale there, amazing creature.
No idea what use the Narwhal's tusk is but I've really enjoyed watching Ocean Giants. Didn't get to see last night programme but I V+ it so I'll watch it later.
