lava lamp fluid

can anyone tell me how to dispose of two lava lamp bottles, i have been told that the stuff inside them is toxic so i can't just tip it out anywhere, but don't know what they can do with it if i take it to the dump.

It appears that the fluid contains parrafin and other waxy substances. It's supposed to be non-toxic and is listed as non-hazardous material, but not to pour the stuff down the sink since it could solidify...

If you mean the 'old' ones they do contain toxic fluids. The modern ones don't so should be OK.
Your local civic dump should have a facility for putting to one side any inflammable stuff for disposal, like an old paraffin heater that still has some fuel in it. Ours certainly does.
Just take them along to the tip. The guys there will take them off your hands.
