I loved "The call of the wild" by Jack London and a book called "Harriet the Spy" which the eventually made a film of about 30 years after the book came out.

I loved the famous five books and the Adventure ones - The Island of Adventure, I can't remember the other titles. I bought all the books as she wrote them, I wonder if 1st ediitions would be worth anything now. I also loved the Chalet School books. I gave all my books to Manchester Childrens Hospital which was just down the road when I got to about 16. When my daughter got into reading I had to buy them all over again. When she got fed up with them they went in the attic. They are all now being read by my grandchildren.
Anybody read "The Girl of the Limberlost" by Gene Stratton Porter? Given to me by my mother.
@ Carandog. My friend re-collected the Chalet School books. They're unbelievably expensive now. I'm not sure if she has them all.
Dammit! DT has just reminded me that I need to source a "Swallows and Amazons" flag for a mate's birthday (he's just moved into a house which is S&A all over again - complete with a flag pole!).
