Central London for 40 a night? It's going to be difficult! A very basic room over a pub, without breakfast, is typically 70 a night in central London. Even some 'flea pit' hotels want 200 a night! (London is the dearest city in the world for hotel accomodation).

All is not lost, however. You should be able to find something within your price range at needahotel.com. If you go direct to their site you're met by one of the least user-friendly pages on the 'net but there's a better way to access their booking system: Go to Ryanair's website at http://www.ryanair.com/site/EN/ and clicking on 'Cheap Hotels' down the left-hand-side.

Hoping this helps,

Chris

Us northern lass aint got a clue about london!!!

If you don't mind the colour Orange you could try the following

http://www.easyhotel.com/

Try Holiday Inn Express at this web site.

http://www.ichotelsgroup.com/h/d/ex/925/en/home

They are all over London, and have the "name" Holiday Inn to show they are of a decent quality.

I have had a search of the site and you can get a room for less than 50.00.

The Travelodge site has loads of rooms on offer for Friday and Sunday nights in November at 26.00, including London.

Web site is here

https://www.travelodge.co.uk/index.php

try www.wotif.com they have fantastic
rates on there.
I use www.lastminute.com  I've had 3 star hotels for as little as 29 per night (with air con and breakfast).
Check out hotels on Baker Street.  40 will not include B&B.
