Got my car insurance renewal for this year went up £60 so got on phone to cancel it(found cheaper elsewhere) was on phone 10 mins and got £70 knocked off insurance with exactly the same stuff my renewal had quoted, I think these companies make the price up as they go along legalised robbery my wife calls it! in the end im paying £10 less than last year so im happy!!

I know someone else who does that and why not, makes them realise that people aren't going to be loyal if they hike up prices well above what they should be. Well done you, I will try that next time mine is up for renewal.

quite right redhelen they all try it on dont they!
Whilst it's not insurance my AA recovery renewal came in at over £200. As an AA member for nearly 30 years with no call outs for years I was gobsmacked. After doing some shopping around and armed with facts I called them up and in a short time got my recovery cost down to just over £100 and with extra bits thrown in. Just goes to show that they hope u will just cough up and have little respect for their customers. Tempted to leave but feel I got value money this year.
Nothing new - Insurers rely on peoples inertia ( aided by sending out renewal invitations at the latest possible time they are allowed to ) in not shopping around when renewal time comes around .
Have you never had a quote from a tradesman and then negotiated a discount?

Exactly the same principle.
