Hi there,
I've been suffering with gastritis on and off (but mostly on) since the start of this year. I'm not a smoker, nor do I drink alcohol, no aspirin or Ibruprofen abuse. I am often quite stressed, but I am seeing someone for Cognitive Behavioural Therapy.
But recently my gastritis has become very bad, I have lost a lot of weight, and I am in constant pain. I have been given Lansoprole 30mg a week ago to reduce the acid in my stomach. But I only seem to be getting worse. I'm trying to eat, but it's very hard when it causes terrible pain, pressure and breathlessness.
Does anyone have any similar experiences or know what could be going on?
Any tips on reducing the pain?
Thanks

having both is a pain because there are foods to avoid with both conditions, I eat a small but bland diet now, I would rather sacrifice the food to feel normal :/
I agree with cazz.....you are suffering from an undiagnosed condition......it may well be GERD but this can only be diagnosed by exclusion.

Go back to your GP and ask if he would consider sending you for a gastroscopy.(camera into the stomach)

Barratt's oesophagitis is another consideration which needs excluding.
if eating causes pain and pressure, maybe try domperidone (motilium) which helps food travel smoothly through the digestive system and helps considerably with bowel and stomach spasm
