I was at Rutland Water yesterday to watch the Ospreys on Manton Bay. The hide (Shallow Water) was pretty full but all binoculars and scopes were turned to the end of the bay where there was a Spotted Sandpiper. Mainly an American bird apart from the few who get lost like this one during their migration South. This picture was taken by one of the people in the hide yesterday http://www.birdguides...ures.asp?v=1&f=311084

Wow. Very rare indeed here, especially in full adult plumage. Must be a bit lonely.
