how do you uninstall Avira Antivirus?

Tired of Avira Antivirus, I want to install AVG instead of it. But I don’t know how to uninstall it as my friend told me that incomplete uninstall would cause computer crashes. So can you tell me how do you uninstall it? Thanks.

it should uninstall using add remove programs (or programs and features) OK, but it won't harm to run the removal tool afterwards just to make doubly sure..
