Price-wise, who knows? But make sure it's locked up properly - lots being stolen out in the wilds.
do you need oil now?
Question Author
thanks gingejbee - am out in the sticks but my tank isn't visible from the farm track I'm on but I certainly hear what you are saying.
evil-sheep - no, was just trying to get opinions on whether or not it's worth filling up now.
Unless you know that prices are going to drop then it is probably worth it. The prices of gas and electricity are due to increase dramatically next month so I cant see the fuel oil companies missing the chance to hike their prices as well.

househusband and redhelen - your remarks are more or less what I'm thinking - nothing really goes down does it?

I am in the sticks, but our tank isn't visible and thieves would have to come through two gates and a barking dog or climb over a wood pile. I will be topping up shortly. We have half a tank so I will top it up next month.
Certainly cheaper to start autumn / winter with a full tank by topping up in the summer. The chart of prices on attached website may be of some use.

with ours, you get a better rate if you buy more, so we wait till it runs down, so we can get at least 1000 l
Wisdom is possibly related to how well locked down your tank is. And how often you are away from your premises.
Quite honestly the better rate doesn't usually equate to that much. If you can bulk buy with others in the area it can come out cheaper too.

Lots of informative replies which have made me think - and thank you very much everyone - think I'm going to fill up - get a load of wood in then forget about it for a while - I usually go away for maybe six/eight weeks in the winter but am not this year so it makes sense to get those big expenses out of the way in the Summer.
