I have long curly hair and im thinking of getting it chemically  straightened, i hate using straightners, it takes me atleast 2h to straighten my hair cos its so thick, then by later that day it starts to kink again.  Has anyone had their hair chemically straightened? how good is it, ie how long does it last and does it actually stay straight? and how expensive is it?

my neice had hers done and it stayed straight for ages and she has really curly hair. ( I have to say I prefered it curly though)
thought about having it "relaxed" like the girls from Grenda/Jamica etc.  I sure that someone would be only to helpful on this matter.
be happy u av hair babe

The only person I know who had this done had her whole scalp burnt by the hairdresser.  She woke up every morning with her hair matted and stuck to the pillow with pus!  Put me right off!

Obviously anyone can have a bad experience with any hairdressers but she's the only one I know who's ever had this done

Hi there

I had mine done last week-like yourself it took ages to straighten and when it was done the fist sign of damp weather sent it wavy again!.

I am pleased with mine although it was a rash desision that I made in the shop I'm glad I did it.

Mine cost 46.00.

You must make sure you buy really good hair products for the aftercare to keep it looking healthy.

Have a good think about it, but I would say go for it! it now only takes me 10 mins on a low blow dry heat and NO straighteners YAY!!

KT84, if you can afford it (prices from 100 - 400 depending on length etc) and if you can get to a salon that does it, get the Yuko treatment.  I had this done on holiday in Malaysia (it was a lot cheaper there too) and if I could afford it I would have it done again.  I have very thick hair and a lot of it and this treatment left my hair so incredibly soft and shiny.  After washing it, I didn't even have to comb it and it would dry poker straight - it lasted for ages too and the regrowth was hardly noticeable although my hair  grows straight from the root, then gets a bit of a kink half way down so it may be different if your hair is curly all the way down.  I miss having gorgeous swingy hair!
