Morning!

I wondered if anyone would be willing to share their top tips for staying cool while out on a hot day on their motorbike.

I'd also like to hear about any strange myths you've ever heard about it or just strange things that you can't believe people do (to stay cool).

Thanks in advance.

I've read elsewhere people answer "what do you wear to keep cool?" with "a car"!

Buy vented leathers.

Or ride naked (though the gravel rash could be a problem if you come off)

I also always used to find this was a good way of keeping cool

as said, open vents on helmet and clothing. Loosen cuffs and wear gloves and boots inside so that air can circulate. Cant said i have ever suffered the heat on the bike, its just once you get off again that you feel it. Stop often for a cool drink and a chat to fellow bikers too. Take cooler clothes in Top box or tank bag if stopping anywhere for long.

I could never go on bike without full bike gear, I really want to get some proper bike jeans for summer.

Well, there's an old crosser at the bottom of this lake.... that kept me cool too, but it did mean I had to walk home :)

Don't forget that if your going anything above 60mph it isthe same as standing stationary in a 60mph wind, i just open my jacket at the top and loosen the cuffs on my jacket to keep cool.

Yesturday I was doing that when I felt a stabbing pain just below my collar bone, a wasp had stung me!
ditch the fairing. I rode across spain with full leathers on at an air temperature of 40C.No problem with the top of my jacket open, the downside is that when I got to a hotel I found about 2000 squashed flies stuck to my sweaty body.
