Can someone tell me what type if plug is used in Southern Ireland/Eire ? Is it the standard English three pin square plug, the continental round two pin plug, or the squat type English three pin plug ? Perhaps someone can show me a photo ! Thanks all

Standard English three pin square plug.
When the electrical system in Ireland was being developed, the country was part of the UK, so it's unsurprising that they've got the same sockets as us.

If you insist on photographic proof, here it is!

Interesting, and quite extensive, list of countries where that is used. I wouldn't have thought it would be so widely adopted.
Although Buenchico’s link lists a number of countries in which UK mains outlets are found, in some of those countries they will not be the only outlet type found – and could be far & few between. Relying on such a list could disappoint.

For example, check out the countries on this link listing alternatives to type G plugs.

If visiting a country listing more than one plug type – it is best to make further investigations as to the type that you are likely to encounter.
