I've decorated my sitting room in a (loosely) Regency style and I'd like to get a coffee table.  Did people have coffee tables in the early 19th Century?  If so, what style? Thx.

While they weren't neccessarily called coffee table, which is a 20th century term, they served the same function... look at these for ideas...

Remember a lot of what we now think of as regency style is taken from fairly grand houses and whilst it looks fabulous in high ceilinged rooms from the period it can look a bit odd if the house is from a different era if you over do it.
