I'm buying it for a non - techy pal who just wants Internet, MS Office and the occasional iPlayer video - no games, nothing clever.

The budget is around £300, box only.

I would have looked at Mesh, but they've just gone bust.

Any suggestions will be gratefully received!

Massively over specced for that they want, but it's in budget.

Once again, Chuck comes up good!

I didn't mention, but my pal is also very mean indeed, and refurb will bring a smile to his face! Shame about Vista, but he has XP.
Why buy a refurb from Morgan with Vista on it when you can buy a brand new Dell with Windows 7 on it for the same money.

This Dell is £299 and has a decent CPU, 2Gb of memory, 320Gb hard drive, and Windows 7. It al;so has Windows Office Starter (Word and Excel) which the Vista box wont have.

Have a look at ebuyer.com - their prices are pretty decent.
ChuckFickens recommendation is a refurbish item, with only 90 days warrantee.

Ebuyer is selling this machine – which has a 1 year warrantee for only a fiver more (post free).

But both machines are well overspeced for what your pal wants.

Something like this would be more than adequate, saving around £70.

The ebuyer machines are not running Vista!!!!!!
