my car has just failed its mot, garage say ecu causing problems, (car was running ok, failed on emissions) is it expensive to replace/fix ecu? i am clueless. thanks

To be honest, does the garage you take it to carry out diagnostic tests?  If not, then it would be worth searching on yell.com for a Diagnostic centre in your area as it may be something that is simple to fix.  ECU is electronic, not mechanical therfore they may not be able to fix the problem, but for approx �50.00 plus vat, a diagnostic centre would be able to tell you what is wrong.  I have just found a mobile guy in my area and he even picks the car up!!  Unless there is something drastically wrong, the Diagnostic centre can fix the emission problems.  Hope you get on OK - Sue
