I have a Vauxhall Astra MK 5 and need to change the throttle pedal. Have contacted vauxhall and received quote for £115 and tell me the part needs to be coded to the ECU. Have also got second hand quote from other companies who tell me it doesn't need to be programmed. So who do I believe? are vauxhall trying to sell the added programming or the second hand companies trying to make a quick sale?

I think it works ok.
They just say because it's supposed to be calibration checked on Tech2 after replacing.
Try it first .. then take there as last resort if problem.

I had this go on my Vectra B under warranty. Had a look out of interest what was involved in changing it, looked quite a big job. Glad Network Q paid for it. If you take it to an independant garage and it doesn't work when you pick it up then they can hardly charge you for it. I reckon the dealers are trying to take you for a ride.

In my experience you will get a much better quality of service at an independant garage than the main dealer. The dealer has the manufacturer's website and flag outside to attract business. The independant workshop relies a lot of the time on word of mouth. They do a good job, they get recommended. They don't, well then they don't.
