How did John get in the loft without ladders or something to stand on and surely the police would have checked the house out and left an officer to stay with Fiz during the night, seeing John was at large?

rich47 - where did you learn to be so helpful and courteous? Might be worth catching upon the Ed's suggestions re: posting helpful responses.
1. As he was seen to run out of the back door, it's hardly surprising that the whole house wasn't checked.

2. There was a storyline some years ago about the lofts in the Coronation Street terrace....and it centred on the Batterby's house...
Maybe he ascended from another house - i think the lofts in our old terrace were all connected.

They couldn't leave an officer there - there is a limited number of police in Soapland - they were probably called over to 'endez or em'dale or whatever.
I remember that Jack. Wasn't there one big communal loft and weren't rats involved. Or did someone fall through someone else's ceiling?

I remember something quite a few years ago about some of the lofts being connected. So maybe he got in via one of the neighbours. This is soap land remember and anything no matter how unlikely is perfectly normal there.
I vaguely remember that Les Battersby was using the access afforded by his loft to ...erm....visit his neighbours; I'm sure Ken and Emily were visited....

Not sure about the rats, but that could have been one of Les's scams....:o)
An age old agreement between playwright, the cast and the audience. Willing suspension of disbelief on the part of the audience Unfortunately, scriptwriters assume that they can cover up these type of dicontinuities by assuming that the audience goes to make a cup of tea at the end of the first act.
makes the Police of Manchester look very stupid - the first thing I would have thought they would do is search the house, especially the attic
ive never seen such a complete and utter stupid storyline..and that story about the mcdonalds and the kid is just as bad..im sick of hearing that becky screaming..its as bad as hollyoaks..coronation street is ready for the scrapheap..pathetic..
