I am 17 and have a full UK Driving licence but I want to get back on a bike as I miss riding! I already have a 50cc CBT. I want at least a 125 now though, I know I can ride a 125 with L Plates now after retaking my CBT for a 125 but in the future I want to get my full bike licence, would it be possible to get something like an ER-5 or similar and restrict it to 14.6 bhp which is the limit for a 17 year old. Not so worried about whether or not it can physically be done but legally, can I do this, I have looked at Direct gov website but cant get my head around it. :-( The categories on my licence are B, B1, f, k, p. Any help appreciated. TIA

HIya Benny, try searching for 'direct access', I've been looking into it recently. I'm over 21 though, but I'm sure I saw somewhere that the age limit is removed as long as the test is passed on a bike with a power output of more than 35kw. I think the direct access course I looked at was using 500cc bikes to teach students on. Hope this helps mate. Oh, Please be careful - 4 wheels are much better than 2 you know! Now you've got your full license, why don't ou thin about doing a pass plus course, its about £135 and you'd save that in insurance costs. worth thinking about, and it only takes a day!
