Hardly gone quickly, he was ill for four years before his death (redemption song was written during that time, which makes it very poignant)

But totally agree, he was an inspiration as a musician and a person.

I looooooove a bit of Bob. I loved No Woman No Cry especially, and Redemption Song. He seemed to be a very charismatic man and died way too young.
I play his music regularly and it never fails to move me in some way or other.

I saw Bob Marley play live at Bingley Hall in Stafford, which was totally inappropriate for music of his style - it's a cattle shed (literally!0 and holds 8,000 and has the intimacy and atmosphere of ... a cattle shed.

That said, when they played 'Get Up Stand Up', that was a magic moment, and I swear the clouds of ganja smoke got even thicker as everyone drew in deeo to appreciate the spell-like atmosphere generated by the power of that song.
