Weather in Greece

I am thinking of going to Greece this August and was curious about the weather (particularly in Patra). Some websites have said the temperatures are extremely hot (over 37 degrees celcius!) and others say it doesn't exceed about 30 degrees celcius. I was hoping someone who has been could give some insight. Thank you :)
