Radio 2: some discussion about a Canadian Mountie making a comment about women shouldn't dress as sluts if they don't want to entice negative comments and suggestions.

Apparently a '*** walk' has been organised as a demonstration against his comments.

Any takers? Any walkers? White stilettos only ;-)

Got it slightly wrong - it was a Canadian policeman, not a mountie (aren't they one & the same thing?).

It's sqad that put a mountie in my mind.
"sluttish" was a word used in 1386 ........... to describe a slovenly man (messy, dirty)
Although "Mountie" referred to the Royal Canadian Mounted Police" it has pretty much become a synonym for any police officer in Canada. The saying use to be, "A Mountie always gets his man". Food for thought, pick the bones out of that one you psycho-analysts.
Steggy, slovenly? Isn't it bad enough that you support Rangers? :p

Salla, I'll join you on the walk if I can borrow chuck's bag :)
I am not sure the name is helping but slutwalk does address a serious issue about how sexual assault and rape victims are viewed. Sadly an "asking for it" mentality does still exist.

I can't find any news releases related to this. Any idea of where it is? I only wear flats because I'm not a slave to fashion and I'm not trying to lure men.
Oh, not a mountie...

"You know, I think we're beating around the bush here," he reportedly told them. "I've been told I'm not supposed to say this - however, women should avoid dressing like sluts in order not to be victimised."

I can't see any difference between this and "Don't walk in bad neighborhoods waving money and wearing brand new tennis shoes."
