I have a Lexmark Z42 printer, and currently the black cartridge either doesnt put anything on the page, or if it does, its really faded. The cartridge is quite new, and has worked before. It doesnt really produce lines, just all the black is really faded, or not their at all. Any idea whats wrong, or how to fix it? The colour cartridge has done this before, but it was old and may have dreid up. The new colour cartridge is fine now though.

Try removing the cartridge and cleaning the head with a damp cloth. I think there is also a head cleaner option in the Lexmark printer tools which will waste most of the remaining ink.
