Selling Silver

With silver at a fairly high price, I want to sel some.
What is the best way of going about it?

if you want to sell it for scrap go into a couple of jewellers (independant ones not chains) and ask for a quote for scrap but also look up the selling price per gramme to give you some idea of what to expect

Gold is currently trading at over £29,000 per kg – in comparison, Silver is trading at around £930 per kg. If you have Sterling Silver at 925/1000 parts Silver, you might be lucky to get £850 per kg.

Given that many items of Gold jewellery are worth more than the scrap value due to the workmanship in producing the items – it is almost certain that any item of Silver (teapot, jewellery, spoon etc) will be more valuable as is (than the scrap metal value).

And on a serious not it is making good prices at auction at the moment so try your local auction house Lot higher than I have known before

Not sure anyone would want to buy a silver tray, engraved with congratulations on your marriage.
But perhaps put it in an auciton with a reserve of whatever the value per kg.

Now if I had a gold tray!

Goofy, I got a decent price for some silver jewellery, I asked in my local jewellers. They won't be bothered by the engraving on the tray - they are selling it for the weight melted down - they'll make something else of it.
