bayonet fitted in wrong position on gas pipe

I am a housing assosiation tennant. At christmas i had a kitchen fitted by the assosiation.
Mr assosiation bigwig came round and for reasons not discussed dropped the gas pipe, which connects to the cooker, to just above the skirting board. Mr gas man said it did not need doing but did it anyway as mr big cheese insisted.
Anyway 3 months down the line i have had my annual gas boiler serviced today, and mr gas engineer has told me the bayonet has been fitted in the wrong position and the pipe is to low and does not comply with "current standard situations"
He has issued an "advice notice" and says its ok to use , but the work needs to be done to bring it up to " standard regulations"
Would i be entitled to any compensation do you think as i had to take extra time off work as the kitchen was put on hold for 3 days due to " mr big cheese" deciding to drop the pipe, for no apparent reason it seems !

In all honesty Booty I doubt it but you could try - first thing is to send the advisory notice to HA, if you hav'nt done so, and perhaps ask them why they moved the gas pipe, and try and get them to confirm it was on "bigwigs" instructions. That might be a starting point.

I'm sure others will be along with their views

i did not think so either but just wanted to know others thoughts on the matter

My thinking was that if you can get them to admit that gas pipe was moved on their instruction, it might give you some leverage, because presumably you will have to take more time off work to get it corrected?

no you have a claim against Mr Gasman who didnt do the work proper
but you have to get mr gas engineer to say that, which may well be a problem

[ I had a shock when the gas fella looked at my cooker and said, you do realise that they have used a water pipe as a gas pipe and used a water non return valve as a gas non return valve ?] this must have been done 20 yrs ago

they are coming out today to re-ajust the pipe to where it should be correctly postioned . Thanks to everyones answers.
