is a diverter valve on a combi boile the same thing as a flow valve and does anyone have any idea what the cost would be to have the flow valve repaired

Can't be 100% sure but the flow valve is probably the sensor which fires up the boiler when you open a hot tap.

The diverter valve is basically a three way valve which diverts hot water to the central heating circuit or the hot tap. I've just replaced mine and it was �55.
