Don't go out that often, usually have friends round or go to theirs, but me and my mate went for a drink tonight for the first time in a couple of months.
Ordered two large wines, had a tenner out ready as its usually around £8.50, that'll be £10.20 said the barmaid!
I could get 3 bottles for that at the local shop! It'll be another two months before we venture out again!
What are the bar prices like where you are?

For Chris again

Is this pub privately owned? The pub I mentioned is managed and owned by Punch but the prices are not unusual round here. I can't remember the last time I saw tankards in Edinburgh.
Chris didn't realise you were a 'tractor boy'! We used to drink in a pub called the Crown at Claydon before (and after!) speedway at Foxhall.

Lol at Chris, had a chuckle at the 100 years since any injury involving a pewter tankard, I presume you can provide a link to back that up:-)
I'd normally grumble a bit at paying such a high price for a couple of glasses of wine, but I kept quiet, didn't want to spoil it for the OH (I'm nice like that). :o)
Question Author
That is nice mrs c, hope he treats you the next time you are out:-)
Lankeela:
The Claydon Crown is about 5 minutes away from me on the bus. (But not, regrettably, in the evenings because Suffolk County Council have just withdrawn all evening services around here). My cousin is a Witches fan but I've never seen the attractions of Foxhall Stadium myself.

Slinkycat:
The brewery boss cites a precise year (1879, I think) but I've not asked him to prove his source!
As the company boss, head brewer and pub landlord, he's often to be found 'mingling' in the pub. He makes a point of greeting every new customer. Afterwards he can often be seen standing by the door (rather like the church vicar) shaking people's hands as they leave and thanking them for their custom.

Scotman:
As stated above, the pub is owned by a tiny little brewery:

I usually drive, slinky, as I'm not too bothered about having a drink out. Not a big drinker indoors, either, tbh.

It's our wedding anniversary today (or should I say yesterday) so we pushed the boat out. One of the most expensive meals we've ever had, but it was delicious. Would like to go again.
Question Author
Happy anniversary mrs c, how many years? It was our 26th last week, eek where did the time go?
It flies by, doesn't it!

It's our 16th anniversary. We were old(ish) when we got wed (nearly 40). Can't believe how quickly the time's gone. :o(
If you are at the Suffolk Show Chris I shall be on a trade stand in the dog show, so do come and have a chat! Haven't been to speedway for many years, was actually a Kings Lynn Stars fan at that time so only went to Ipswich under sufferance!
Did you do anything to celebrate your anniversary, slinky?
Question Author
Went out to a village pub for a meal but mr slinky gobbled his meal, hungry are you I said, bloody starving he replied, oh the romance!
Lol @ slinky.
I'm a member of a few social clubs in town £2.20 for a single and coke, I usually only spend about 20 all night thats shots aswell :-)
I went out for a meal last night in a gastro pub with a nichelin star... £60 for my mate, £40 for me (I didn't have a starter)... The food wasn't that good but the wine was ok. We only had one bottle and it was £22, and that was one fo the cheaper ones. Going out can be expensive, it's why I try not to be too sociable...
