Well I would hand them in to the Police, not sure what anyone else would do.
Unless it was obvious who or what they belonged to then probably nothing.
If it was just door keys I'd probably do nothing. If it's car keys I'd hand them in..
I'd hand them in to the police (unless I found them in a library or shop or somewhere like that......in that case, I'd hand them to an assistant).

Losing your keys is a horrible inconvenience. I hope he manages to get them back.

Obviously hand them into the police. If kids picked them up thopough, no telling what would happen to them. Are you sure it was lost outside? That they were taken on the ride to work?

You should look for them in the last place they could be. Things are always found in the last place you look.
You could try putting a card in the local newsagent's window, asking if any keys have been found - or put an ad in the local newspaper (ours lets you put ads in free-of-charge).
To be truthful, I'd leave them where they were, people often re-trace their steps.....

I would put up a prominent notice where I found keys, "Keys found, Tel: 234567890" as I live too far from police stn.
