Work in nursing home, unfit for work cert , have signed on back re stat sick pay. But have been told by other colleagues will lose my salary as if you dont work you wont get paid. In a previous job when off was paid in full company made up my wages plus had stat sick pay. They said they got money back from government end fiancial year. The employee does not lose out. Can anyone shed any light on this . Thank you in advance.

You only get paid full wages if it is in your contact. Otherwise you will be paid stat sick pay.
they don;t have to pay you sick pay at all, its down to co policy, at my place we allow 3 sick episodes in a rolling year then no pay, if they are off long enough for stat sick pay to kick in then they get that but that's it.

sorry sounds like your co have a no work no pay policy in effect
At our place you can sign yourself off for a week, after that SSP comes in. Unless your employer says so in your contract of employment, they don't have to top it up.
depends on employers, where I worked we did not get our full pay if off work only stat sick pay nothing for first 3 days sick pay paid from 4th day off work,

Thanks to all who have answered, much appreciated
In your previous job I doubt very much that when anyone was ill they got full pay + statutory sick pay- otherwise you'd be better off sick than working.
