Which is the longest-running single in the UK top-ten list?

It was Bryan Adam's Everything I Do, I Do it For You single. It was in the top ten for 15 consecutive weeks in 1991. Criminal.
Although Adams may have been No 1 for 15 weeks, I doubt it was the longest in the top ten. I don't actually know the answer, but it may be something weird like "Stranger On The Shore". Good question!
Actually, I'm pretty sure "I Believe" by Frankie Laine was number 1 for 18 week in the 50s. That's not a definitive answer though, mozzer's reply is probably more along the right lines. Due to the changing nature of the way we buy singles, it's almost certainly going to be an old record that got to number 1 but also spent ages hanging around after it was 'deposed'.
