Hope I can explain this puzzle

Using only knights' moves (as on a chess board) what is the least number of moves needed to reverse the positions of the O's & X's

A board containing 12 squares eg
ABC
DEF
GHI
JKL

There is an O in squares ABC, & X in squares JKL, but you can jump over but not end a move in squares E & H.
Hope this makes sense.

7 moves

start at A, then go H,C,D,I,B,G
