i need to replace my bearing on my jaguar 2.0 d x type
04 plate
does anyone know the part number
i supply bearings (MAINLY INDUSTRAIL) but the chance are i may have the bearing i need in stock - i just dont know the part number to check

ideally i want to take my car to the garrage with a new bearing
rather than go and him have to take the steering wheel off and i think he would also have to remove the airbag to identify the bearing for me then to find out i dont have one

and then am stuck without my car for a day or so!!

Upper Column bearing/bush
Lower Column bush
Power Steering rack parts?
Question Author
i would say upper

the one nearest the steering wheel

but if its easy to give me uppper and lower

i cant go wrong!
Column bushes/bearings are usually propriatory assy made up of plastic holder and special bearing or bush.
Have you checked with a Jag dealer .. might only be a few quid!
I presume it chatters .... or rattles occasionally?
Question Author
it rattles

i thought a bolt needed tightening up

but the man at the garage said it was the bearing

he said if i took the steering wheel off and the airbag!

which i must admit i thought was built into the steering wheel????

i would be able to see it??
Hi
No, he's right. The airbag is a cartridge loaded into the wheel. Disconnect fuse first (usually SRS yellow job) or disconnect battery (radio code!!!) and remove wheel. It will be inside wheel fitting/opening of column. It is never a normal bearing like you might keep on the shelf tho .. there is usually a plastic assy with a few bushes.
