I work as a TA in Reception class (4/5 yr old) Ive got a little boy in my class who has been telling lots of little fibs. i would like to do a circle time activity with a small group and him to encourage honesty and the benefits of telling the truth.
we have a long term supply teacher in at the moment and she has been no help at all!
i was thinking of doing something like 'the boy who cried wolf'.

any ideas of activites or games that i could do with them?

any help out there for this please
If he's only 4 or 5 then telling the story and maybe you (or one of the children) could come up with a modern day alternative. My five year old would have trouble coming up with a modern day alternative so you might have to take the lead.

thanks sherrardk. i think i'll just go with the flow and see where it goes. tell the story and then talk about its moral and hopefully some of it may sink in!
what a shame the teacher of all people! has been no help, I think "the boy who cried wolf" is a great story to tell, its worth following up how important it is to tell the truth to avoid confusion and upset.
Wonder why he is telling so many fibs though - is he trying to look like he is more interesting than he is or has more stuff than he really has got. Maybe you need to find out why he's lying as he might not think the story relates to his behavior.

yes he has been telling lies at home too about school and we had a meeting with mum. there are issues at home so im thinking it is to get attention.
I feel quite responsible for him because i work with him a lot and with the teacher being away for a while, i feel he has no-one on his side. he's only 4 love him
Bless him, hope you get to the bottom of it soon.
