masking tape

anybody know how to get old masking tape off car paintwork? tape that has dried and gone hard ! I've tried ''bug & tar'' remover and soapy hot water, any help would be welcome.

Another piece of tape over the top, rub hard, lift off.

If that doesn't work, lighter fluid on a cotton-bud.

Next time, use better tape, the blue 3M stuff is great :-P

you want a solvent of some sort, petrol/white spirit/nail varnish remover(acetone), unfortunately thats what happens if you leave masking tape on too long regardless of quality.I work in a body shop so i should no better yet i still masked some windows up at home to paint,left it on for a few months ended up using a stanley blade to remove it
It also has a shelf life ,how many times have you found an old roll in the shed only to find out its useless.

Try a hand held steamer and a non scratch scouring pad.
