This is the Problem. As soon as my Son got married ,and the first child arrived, she didnt want nothing to do with us any more. Only Her side of the family got to Babysitt and see the child. My Son was not erlaud much contact with us or his former Friends. the second child arrived soon after, and after alot of arguments etc.we lost contact with our Son altoether, because he has MS,and it is just too much stress for him. Its now 10 jears, i dont know those Grandchildren at all. there are 9 and 11.and have a right to know as. I uess she told them we are dead. thats the Cow she would. She did some very weird things, and unbelieveble. We argued with our Son also about the situation  in the beginning, and have now also lost Him. I as is Mother had always a good relationship, and could always disgust problems trough.not when she came along. i fully understand that he as to stick to his wife, but we are also his Parents, should he not take as a little bit in consideration. everything was done with her parents or family. Its sad.Its now 10jears and I have taken my Son out of my Will.

This is a very sad story holden, my heart goes out to you.

Might it be an idea to write to your son? Tell him how much you love him, and miss him, and your extended family, and you would love to come and  visit, and have his family visit you. Tell him that there is no point raking over the past, why not put it all behind you and start again? Families are important - he must miss you and maybe doesn't know how to make the first move.

Failing this, is there another relative or close friend who could contact your son and try to get some dialogue going between you? Never give up - families are hard work, but worth it!

This is very sad. As andy says the only thing you can do is to right your feelings in a letter without blaming anyone. Obviously things will not be the same as they used to be but life is too short for grudges and the grandchildren  and yourself miss out. Unfortunatley it happens in a lot of families. If they do not answer your letter then at least you have the knowledge that you have tried.
