I concur hc4361. Sunday used to be a family day where us kids had a clean white shirt/blouse and went to visit grandma/dad or had them visit us, along with other family. The kids were send outside to play while the adults had a good old natter and some had a nip or two.

I hated it when the shops started opening on sundays, not just for the religious people but for everybody, also the ones who had to work.
When the religious realise that every place is a holy place and every day is a holy day, perhaps they will begin to think rationally.
Personally I think washing only on the Sa-bath is far too infrequent.
Religious people thinking rationally, eh? If religious people were capable of thinking rationally, they wouldn't remain religious people for long...
New religions changed the day so it was obvious which cult each person belonged to by what day they were out. They they knew who to kill fir having a different belief to the official line.

Jews - Saturday.
Christians - Sunday
Moslems - Friday

Note how the late-comers tried to stay as close as possible to the original Saturday superstition but just had to change it for the sake of being different. If they were really serious, why not Wednesday?

Then there are the Seventh Day Adventists who got their kicks of reverting to Saturday while still being Christians. All a bit silly really.

It is a matter of what day one chooses to start the week.
My personal belief. The week has seven days but none of them are the first or the last.

My most holy days are those where I do the things I love. None of the days of the week has never been a holy day for me.
Now then Mike, show a bit of christian charity..
I might honour a polite request but never a commandment
The Sabbath is whatever day you designate as the Sabbath, Jews Saturday, Christians Sunday. God didn't name a day for it.

As for keeping it Holy, thats down to interpretaion, but when you take into account that the only reason God created us, was to worship him, I would say that whatever day the Sabbath is, should be spent in prayer or singing his praises.
Isn't there something about vanity in the ten commandments, along with not boiling baby goats in their mother's milk?
