Gray sacked - more to it ...

It now seems that Andy Gray has been sacked.

The reason given is a 'suggestive remark' made to a female presenter in respect of the placing of a microphone pouch.

I smell a massive rat here.

If this hapened two months ago - it is apparent that the female presenter did not make an issue of it - from the clip, she either didn't hear Gray, or ignored him, she certainly didn;t appear shocked or offended. The only way Sky could make this a sacking issue is because they have the incident on film and have chosen to resurect it now.

A little perspective i think.

When men and women work regularly together, they develop a level of banter that suits both sides, and as someone who has worked in mixed gender offices for nearly thirty-seven years, i can confirm that some of the exchanges would make a docker blush, but everyone knows nothing is meant by it - and it does appear that this was the case in this instance.

Gray is guilty of stupid and insensitive comments regarding the female assistant, and maybe a weak joke with his collague which has been caught on camera, and would otherwise have been dismissed.

Could his sacking on the evidence of these instances - one of which is weeks old, and appears not to have caused an issue at the time - be anything to do with Gray suing News International in the phone hacking scandal that cost Andy Coulson his job.

The same News International who own Sky, and whose Sky News - a separate entity from Sky Sport - chose to air the comments made by Gray and Keys?

It all seems just a bit too convenient, and in my view, infair in view of the offences.

A suspension, an serious warning, and an on-air apology would have been more apropriate in my view.

Breaking news:

I was right AG is considering taking legal action against Sky.
Won't win can't win - his lawyers will tell him not to go forward.

You all think hes being done for sexism, he isn't he being done because he has allowed skys integrity to be called in to question and as such going forward his own integrity is being called into question.

I agree theres a rat to the whole thing, but I am glad hes off our screens.

As for being clever, crack on, he had a fair turn of phrase and became the voice of Sky sports thats it.
Just because he's blustering about instructing lawyers............doesn't mean that he has any leg to stand on.

They'll have him done up like a kipper...........!!
AOG

He is Andy GRAY, not Grey.
Keys has quit too
As Sky TV have been so vocal in their stance against sexism, I trust they will now rearrange their programming to show an equal amount of women's football.

Sky TV currently marginalize women's football in a totally sexist way.

I bet less than 10% of Sky's football coverage is women's football.

Women's football will never achieve equal popularity if Sky continue to discriminate so blatantly.

Sky must offer equal coverage to women's football ... immediately.
Following on from Andy Gray's sacking, Richard Keys has now resigned from Sky Sports as well !
do keep up, redman...
They will have to replace them with at least one female presenter, in view of all the women's football (50% from now on) that Sky will be showing.
never mind the football, they completely ignored the Ashes cricket that's just finished
There's been some cricket ?

LOL
You would be a good replacement JJ ! We need some Talent on Sky Sports for a change !! ;-)
women's cricket, JJ, yes.
Grays anat on my television little pun there sorry Andy
54 hits on this post about an ignorant scottish womanising buffoon, and less said about the thieving politicians and their expences.
I know quite a lot about sports.

I've tried hard to grasp Rugby, cos we watch it in the pub when the internationals are on.

I would have to steer the channel towards a bit more Netball (currently consigned to the wilderness of Sky Sports 3), and Lacrosse. Also skiing, which is only shown at dopey times like Saturday morning.

Also, there would be much more coverage of matches from League One.

There would be a rule that any sportsman coming to be interviewed after a game would have to remove his shirt (just for hygiene reasons, you understand).

Have I got the job?

ps. Women play Cricket ???????
JJ - Are you actually Kirsty Gallagher?
A bit of a late additional comment I know ..but back in the 80's I used to go jogging where I lived, every night. This was near Andy Gray's house, so I often used to be passing whilst he was coming in or going out. He used to make very repulsive and lewd remarks to me, with is friend Graeme Sharp. They would lean out of the window and utter filth to me. I ignored them. So I wasn't surprised to hear this!!
