probably because they've hiked their prices by 100% and then offer either a month free or even 12 weeks free, rip off merchants

They do try to get rid of the Lodger. That's why they hike their premiums through the roof. The problem is that they penalise drivers with good records for having to pay out on the claims of drivers who have accidents.
That should say 'get rid of them Lodger' - not 'get rid of the Lodger!"

Just to add...

The '2 months free' is the same as Kwik Fit advertising their tyres and exhausts are 'Fitted Free'. When I had a chauffeur company I would buy the exhausts for my cars then take them back and fit them myself. Because they weren't fitting the part they always took 25% off the price of the exhaust marking it on the receipt as '25% special discount'.
Srangely enough have just spent the last hour on the comparison sites after getting a renewal price of £395 have gone for one at £248 on a like for like policy and it wasn't the cheapest one there were two cheaper but there reviews were really poor.
Insurance companies are nothing but thieving crooks. I wish some people would stop defending them. Their profits rise every year. Using fraudulant claims as an excuse is just a lame trick. My car was hit whilst parked and they still blamed me. Any money they gave me was taken back by trebling my premiums. Whats the point of insurance. Year after year they happily took my money. Now I cannot go elswhere because i have been secretly blacklisted.

I know from experience that car insurers don't make big profits. The smallest bump these days can cost a thousand pounds and personal injury costs are regularly tens of thousands of pounds per accident. A bad injury can cost hundreds of thousands
I change every year!........shouldn't need to!.............but they give cheap price for year one and then hike up the price!............so much hassle, don't need it!........

I've mentioned this before but these 'free months' are the same as 'Free fitting' at Kwikfit. If you buy an exhaust and take it home to fit it yourself, Kwikfit then give you a 25% 'Special Discount' which isn't given when they fit the same exhaust in their unit. Yet they can legally advertise 'Fitted Free!' by playing with the wording.
