Its very clean, and regularly washed. When it dries it is sticky. Does anyone know of any remedies for this? I have tried white vinegar. One area has been permanently marked by bleach. So can anyone help please?
If you use anti-bacterial sprays - particularly own-brand ones from one major supermarket - there's often a sticky residue. Soapy water dried well will solve it
It all depends really upon from what material the worktop has been made. I would imagine that a wipe over with white spirit could be the answer to your problem of stickiness but the bleached area is another issue. Is the surface, wood, formica, marble etc?.
It is possible that the surface has become greasy from normal kitchen usage and washing with water and washing-up liquid is not removing the oily deposits. Hence the reason I have suggested White Spirit.....Prior to a wash over with with a detergent solution.
Sorry I have been so long getting back withmy thanks. Only just switched on. The worktop is just a normal type of top, chipboard probably with a washable laminate? finish. The bleach was where i left a small pool accidentally on the surface, when wiped, it left a round mark. I tried using a plastic scourer and scratched it. I will try white spirit, and thanks for your help.
