Have you tried putting another shilling in the meter?
It's far more likely to be a browser problem (or other software problem) than anything else. Try pressing Ctrl-Alt-Delete to access the task manager. Click the processes tab and check, under the CPU column, that the only big number is against 'System Idle Process'. Everything else should be either '00' or a very low figure.

For a (rough) check on your current download speed. (Click only on 'Begin test'. Ignore the other offers to click on things):

Tried the test download speed 5.75Mb/s
Upload 0.62Mb/s Only activity on task manager was internet explorer CPU at 50
Ive been sent to 'Coventry' -whats all that about lol
Its speeded up tho for some reason :)
Ummmm:
The ping test effectively tests the quality of your phone line. You can get a graded result ('A' to 'E'), with an explanation of what it means, here:
http://ww.pingtest.net/
However I can tell you that such a fast response speed will be an 'A' grade anyway!

Around 10Mbps is one of the fastest download speeds that UK home users get - and your upload speed is quite good too. If you do the test again you'll see that the results page has a box at the top left of the screen which tells you (roughly) how long it would take to download music and video files. (You can click at the top of the box for similar data for uploads).

Unless you're using an absolutely ancient computer, there's no way that Internet Explorer should be using 50% of its processing power!
(It shouldn't even be using 10%)

Switch to Firefox!

Thanks Chris...I did the test again and it came up with the same result. Just checking your link :-)
Tried the alt/control/del but I didnt have a 'Systems Idle Process' everything on my CPU was 00 apart from one 02.Anthying else i can do as its still slow -miust have been a fluke.
Lol...

ping 27 ms
jitter 15 ms

jibberish 100%...lol
Ping-.44ms
Download-8.87
Upload-.44

maybe it's your ISP.....I was having massive problems with my virgin broadband a few months ago....my download was half what it is now.

The location is where it's measured from...and you may get a different reading from another location.
mine has been pretty slow for a couple of days
