Rainy season? you're going to Spain not the Borneo. Their weather system is not dissimilar to the UK except scaled up in terms of temperature, so winters are mild/rainy/overcast and summers are darn hot. In May it will be getting into hot season so plenty suntan oil. Cheap flights: it all depends on where you're travelling from/to but some of the budget airlines (easyjet, jet2 etc...) can do returns from around 100. Or you can chance your arm and get a flight on the day for next to nothing. I trust you're looking online for flights? http://www.monarch-airlines.com/ for example, can do Manchester to Alicante, return, 1 adult, flying 20th May (07:15) returning 27th May (20:50) for 75.70 which includes all airport taxes (the only downside is the unsocial flying times but you can pay a bit more for a better flight time).
I went to Spain in May last year, a place called Fennal 5 mins away from Lorrett De Mar and it p*ssed from the heavens every day! I am also just back from a place called Nerja, Spain which is 45 mins away from Malaga airport and we only had 2 days of sun! I would say that you can never be certain about the weather anymore and I would take plently of warmer clothes i.e. jeans and cardies etc. that' the mistake I made and ended up buying a fur lined demin jacket and an umberella!! As the for the airline darthvader's right it depends where you fly from. If you live in Scotland there's a new airline opening in April something like Air Scotland.com, I'm not 100% but they do dirt cheap flights to spain. I got my flights from cheapflights.com. Although I live in Scotland, I flew from Manchester to Malaga and it cost 150.00 each so your price is pretty good. Hope I haven't put you in a downer!! :o)x
The weather should be quite pleasant; sunny but not that hot. Definately bring some warm clothes for the evenings! It's possible it will rain a bit but it's unlikely it will do for the entire holiday. Flights...definately go for Easyjet...I booked my flight to Mallorca for 6th May this year for 27.50.
