As "Money's Too Tight to Mention" only got to #13 (sad really, as it was the last decent song, IMHO!) the first top ten hit was "Holding Back The Years" which reached #3 in the UK in the summer of 1986. By then HBTY had already been Number One in the States and Mick Hucknell, after doing a FREE gig at my University but already a legendary Lothario, had had his way with a friend of mine. (Sorry for the extra, unnecessary info!)
Verbose, pleonastic and slightly wrong mike....Holding back the years got to number 2..17th May 1986.....the groups first number one wasn't until September 1995 with Fairground.
Thank you. I have learned a new word today, though one which I doubt I'll ever get round to using. At least you didn't try to defend Simply Red's music!
moneys too tight to mention was number 13 from 15th june 1985 and in the charts for 12 weeks holding back the years reached number 2 on 17th may 1986 thats a fact?
The proper version of Money's Too Tight To Mention was done by The Valentine Brothers - the 12" single I have of that is probably as close to Simply Emetic as I dare get.
Sounds like you're jealous mike. God you must be pig ugly if fat, ginger-boy got off with your "friend".
