On the news it says free nicotine patches for smokers. If every smoker takes up the offer and the whole nation stops smoking, where are they going to get the lost taxes from?

stoke - it is watching them die that is so awful!
you may scoff postdog but dont wish to die as people do due to smoking...if you saw someone die of lung cancer [indeed you may have for all i know]...you certainly wouldnt be so light hearted in your comments....
starbuckzone you are so right it was the worst 2 weeks of my life and it was a relief when he did die [and i dont mean that to sound awful]...at least he wasnt struggling for every breath and wasnt suffering anymore....horrendous times....

Just an after thought, or do I mean under thought. Many doctors and nurses smoke, as do many people who have seen loved ones die of smoking related diseases.
fair comment mikmak...but it will catch up with them 1 day....i know we have all got to die in some manner but i wouldnt want to die in the way i saw my dad pass away...
That's what I mean, mikmak, although they see it, they never think it is going to happen to them. I cannot understand them when they see what happens every day. As stoke says, it is horrendous. I hope I never have to watch it again.
Unfortunately a lot of people die of these diseases in this way that have never smoked.

I understand that stoke. I think most cancers are caused by additives, what the EEC now call Enumbers.
Very true prudie, and other horrible diseases and disabilities, but why not try to avoid at least some of them.
