You wouldnt see saturn unless the sun had gone down
Was it not the Moon?
There's an answer to this, but unfortunately lI can't think what it is. I shall have to leave it to one of our more scientific friends. I have seen it before, so I know it is perfectly normal and not the end of the world, well not yet anyway.
How did the sizes compare? if it was any of the planets it would still look like a normal star next to the sun and it's Jupiter that has been very visible for the last few weeks (only at night).
You weren't on a train looking through double glazing were you?
The moon.
That's what I was thinking prudie, a reflection showing a second image.
From the internet

// ………..The moon takes about 25 hours to circle the earth so if you start on a night when the moon rises as the sun sets, about 12 days later they will rise together. It happens once a month (twice occasionally)………..
Once in a blue moon?
Ah no, I know that one sandyRoe - a blue moon is when there are two full moons in one calendar month.
I always thought that when the sun and the moon could be seen at the same time, which they often can, the image of the moon was a reflection. Maybe you should have posted this in science Andy.
