Morning,

Feeling a little out of sorts and am starting to get bothered about being bothered... which is really effing irritating... Just wondering if anyone had experience of an alternative to St John's Wort? (I can't take as it would conflict with my pill).

Cheers dears! :c)

Do you suffer from seasonal affective disorder? You could get one of those lightbox thingies
Hi China...what's your diet like? I don't eat much meat & was told to take a B vitamin complex, which of course.... ermmm... I didn't do. This winter I will though....honest...(I think you need to start with very low doses)

I do get a bit of SAD but am generally pretty good at controlling that myself, I'm usually fine as long as I know what's going on.

My diet is a bit on the extreme side of healthy at the moment I guess, I have an op in Feb that I'd like to lose some weight for to aid recovery so my diet tends to consist of a small bowl of cerial, a couple of satusmas mid morning, soup and ryvetas for lunch and then dinner is generally a stir fry or something very low in or completely empty of carbs.

Oh.. And I munch more oranges in the afternoon after lunch.

How're you peeling those satsumas, CD ? ;o)
Question Author
The 'proper' way... No flipping biting the top off like a hooligan and then doing a bit or orange peel, elephant oregarmi! ;0)
A low carb diet can cause depression. Maybe you should introduce a little bit of good carb like brown rice or potato into your diet.
was going to say the same....add some low GI carb.

Mmmm... Will look low carbs up when i get home. I am still eating small amounts of rice or noodle sometimes. I just don't want the extra carbs right now. Bit of a catch 22.
Carbs aren't fattening are they? It's the half pound of lurpak you put on them that causes the problems I think :o)
Sorry, I'm not the right person for advice about low calorie food. I think everyone's SAD has kicked in early this year.
add some foods with tryptophan, turkey, yoghurt and avocados etc google high tryptophan foods and you will get a longer list... Low carb dieting has no effect on my recurrent depression... generally I would say I feel better without carbs than with them... would also suggest you include some high cocoa solids chocolate (a couple of squares a day)....nicer than magnesium supplements and some almonds

Thank you for all the suggestions, will look them up when I get home.
5 HTP... is pretty good...from health food shops
If you just need to 'unwind' a bit, China Doll, I can personally recommend these:
