When I was (much) younger I got stopped regularly on Saturday nights whilst taking my aunt, uncle and cousin home from East London to Basildon in the early hours of the morning. My "crime" was to be a young man driving a large car, which I have always liked. Never got an apology for being stopped, police just seemed to delight in doing it. Broke the boredom for them in those days, I suppose.
I've been stopped twice. I cacked myself both times :-( The first time was by a police bike waiting in a side street...he didn't see my tax disc. The second time was after I'd filled my car up and drove out without my headlights on...they breathalysed me and everything. That was horrible...I had chewing gum in my mouth so they thought I had something to hide. I didn't...

Scared me though..
A couple of times, many years ago.

Once to check my CB license (which was fine), he had a good check around the car, and in the boot. Commended me on having a hi-vis coat in the boot too, lol.

... and once I drove out of a brightly-lit pub carpark and forgot to turn my lights on. I got breathalysed (hadn't been drinking, I was working), but it just showed how easy it is to get 'accidentally' caught if you're a drink-driver.
My policemen said sorry...but I think thats because they seen what a nervous wreck they had turned me into..
I've been stopped by a police car (with blue flashing lights and a big 'Stop' sign on the back of the the police car) while riding a push bike!

It was back in the early 1970s and I reckon that the copper had been watching too many episodes of 'Z Cars'! He wanted to know where I was going late at night, and what was in the cardboard box on the back of my bike but he repeatedly refused my offer to open it to prove that it was empty and kept on trying to trip me up with lots of meaningless questions. (I'd just finished working in a pub. The box was one that the pub had received a delivery of pork pies in but was ideal for keeping my college lecture notes in!).
Oh yeah, ummmm reminded me, I got pulled over, policeman walked up and said, "ah sorry, I never saw the tax disc" ...

... luckily he never checked in the back of the Landrover for the 37 Vietnamese I was smuggling into the country, lol
I'm always stopped at police check points in my 1984 Golf. If I'm in a line of traffic I can see them spot me and get ready to wave me in from 200 yards away. It's only becaue I have an older car.

I've now got used to carrying my documents so that I don't have to keep traipsing to my police station. Because everything on the car is very cheap and still available I've always serviced and maintained it at no expense spared. The interior, engine bay etc are spotless and whenever a police officer looks around the car then under the bonnet they often say they wish other people would keep their cars in as good a condition.

They always let me go and wish me a good trip but I usually get stopped just for driving a 27 year old car.

I passed my test then only drove for a year before I split with my OH so didn't have a car for years. I'd only just got back into driving and was going along the dual carriageway in my wee banger when I got pulled over (I was never a confident driver anyway). I totally cr@pped myself, but it turned out they just wanted past as there had been a wee bump a bit further up the road - baxtards!!!! :)
Mr. Cupid was stopped many years ago and the officer said, ''You have got a hole in
your exhaust''. Mr. Cupid replied, ''You have to have one to let the fumes out''.Red
faced the officer returned to his car.New silencer box was fitted the following day.

hahaha love it cupid! a mate of a mate once got stopped by the police and arrested on scene, when the female officer said, "anything you say will be held against you" he replied "tits"! i need say no more other than he was in serious trouble!
me and the boyfriend got pulled over in Spain by police (who are armed over there). Basically there was a police car and bike waiting below a fly over within a tourist hot spot when they see a you come past looking all innocent and English, as you head up a hill to join the flyover they come right up fast to your bumper to panic you, what you don't know is there is no run on slipway to get you onto the fly over and no signs to say there isn't they push you on and then book you, they wanted a huge cash fine on the spot in cash or they were going to tow car away and leave you stranded...f ing Spanish, as if that money made it down the station.
As a teen, I was walking into town one winters day with a few mates and saw another of my friends across the road. I said to the others "Watch this" I picked up some snow to throw at him but saw a policeman walking towards us. Thinking better of it, I put the snow down.

As we walked past a large arm came out and stopped me "How would you like me to take you down the police station? You know what I've stopped you for don't you?"
My reply was "Yes, for picking up snow". He let me go on my way. I learnt my lesson and was a good boy (most of the time).
I was driving home after baby-sitting my neice and nephew late one Christmas. A police roadside check stopped me. A policeman leaned in through the window and said "You have either stolen that car or been drinking...which is it"? Not the most polite question to ask!

"Neither" was my calm reply. I explained I was going home after babysitting and they let me go on my way.
Aww bless ya,

ive never got stopped by the police but my mum did a couple times, only because she over took them lol.... she only got a warning .... still makes me laff... she told me that the car infront was driving really slow so she over took it unaware it was a police car lol.
